The Congressional Luncheon sponsored by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association held on September 18, 2013, addressed the impacts of sequestration on the practice of law in federal court. Members of Congress were in attendance live and via video feed, together with their representatives, and heard firsthand the impact that reduced funding (i.e., âsequestrationâ) has had upon federal courts, agencies, and the practice in the Middle District of Florida. Speakers included district court judges from the Middle District of Florida, as well as Mr. A. Lee Bentley, III, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, and Ms. Donna Elm, Federal Defender for the Middle District of Florida, and the various representatives from different federal agencies and departments. The luncheon is part of the Tampa Bay Chapterâs continued effort to serve the membership by conveying to elected officials the impact of sequestration has had upon the practice of law and legal community.
